How Families Get Started with DDS Services

At Easterseals, we understand how important it is for families to access the right supports for their loved ones. If you're new to the Connecticut Department of Developmental Services (DDS) system, we can help you get started.

Steps to Getting Started with DDS

Step 1: Call the DDS Helpline

To begin the process of getting services, families should call the DDS Helpline. A DDS representative will guide you through eligibility and help get a case manager assigned.

Step 2: Meet Your Case Manager

Once assigned, your DDS case manager will help you explore available services, such as:

  • In-Home Supports
  • Employment & Day Programs
  • Respite and Family Support
  • Transition Planning for Youth

Together, you’ll create a personalized plan that focuses on your loved one’s needs and goals.

Step 3: Stay Engaged

Families are essential partners in the planning process. We encourage you to:

  • Attend meetings and planning sessions
  • Share updates with your team
  • Ask questions and advocate for what’s important to your family
  • Join trainings and family events offered throughout the year
