Karl joined our Group Supported Employment program (GSE) in April of 2025. GSE offers people with disabilities the opportunity to work in small groups within community-based businesses while receiving on-the-job coaching and support from Easterseals staff. Karl joined with one clear goal: he wanted to work and earn his paycheck! From his very first day, Karl’s pride in what he does, dedication and joyful spirit stood out.
Karl is an asset to Easterseals Social Enterprises. He currently works with EnviroClean, performing essential in-house cleaning duties twice a day. His responsibilities include emptying the trash (his favorite job!), vacuuming, mopping, wiping down tables, and cleaning various bathrooms. He also helps with tasks such as loading boxes onto trucks, breaking down boxes, and organizing papers for Enviroshred—Easterseals Secure Document Destruction Social Enterprise. Karl enjoys staying active, takes pride in his work, and is motivated to earn his paycheck. His commitment is so strong that when he once had to stay home sick, he worried about letting his team down—a true testament to his work ethic and dedication.
Outside of Easterseals, Karl is a familiar and beloved presence throughout his community. Wearing his bright reflective vest with his name proudly displayed, he independently visits local businesses, attends church Bingo nights, and stops by neighborhood gathering spots simply to greet people and make them smile. Wherever Karl goes, he brings warmth, kindness, and connection.
Karl is known for his one-liners, his contagious smile, and his genuine care for others. When he’s not with us, we feel it—because his presence truly makes Easterseals brighter.
Because of the generosity of donors like you, Karl has found meaningful work, confidence, and a community where he belongs. He is living proof that with the right support, people can discover purpose, pride, and independence—and thrive. This is the power of creating employment opportunities.
