Speech Therapy

Overview

Speech therapy can enhance or restore a person’s ability to communicate through speech and other means. It can also help with identifying and resolving problems related to swallowing.

Comprehensive Speech Therapy for All Ages and Conditions

Our speech and language pathologists treat patients of all ages with a wide range of diagnoses, including:

• Autism
• Social communication deficits
• Speech articulation
• Expressive and receptive language
• Problems with cognition and memory
• Aphasia
• Difficulty swallowing
• Dysarthria

When to Consider Speech Therapy

A person might benefit from speech therapy if they are experiencing any of the following concerns:

• Cannot think of the right word or uses the wrong word in sentences
• Family members report increased difficulty understanding what is being said
• Coughs or clears throat frequently when eating
• Has difficulty chewing or has feed left in mouth after swallowing

These services require a referral from a provider and are available to individuals who have a medically necessary reason for services and are currently offered in the Greater Hartford Area.
